March Games of Berkeley Achievements

Here are the achievements for the Games of Berkeley GNK tournament on March 8th:

Runner
Level 11 H@X0R: Have the most programs installed at the end of each of the games that you win.
Corp
Sometimes a threat is enough: Have the least amount of Ice rezzed at the end of each of your games that you win.
Both of these are added up throughout the tournament and the winner is the player who has the most in each category. There will be special prizes for these. Please help get the word out about these!

Gamescape North Store Championship 2015 Results

Twenty two players attended the 2015 Gamescape North Store Championship. It was a very competitive field. We had a pretty even split on Corp and Runner wins:

wins

NBN totally dominated on the Corp side:

corp-wins

While the Runner side was split pretty evenly:

runner-wins

Noah McKee fought his way through the Swiss and top 8 elimination rounds to be crowned (or plaqued?) store champion.

I don’t have deck lists for this one but here are the full results from the day.

Thanks to everyone who attended and especially Gamescape North for hosting!

Game Kastle Santa Clara Store Championship 2015 Results

Forty two players competed on Saturday, February 21st 2015 at the Game Kastle Santa Clara Store Championship. The field was diverse! We played 6 rounds with no cut.

The top 8 featured Leela, Blue Sun, Kit, Tennin, Noise, CI, Andy, ETF, Kate, RP, Gabe, and NEH. The Corp/Runner Win/Lose ratio was nearly 50/50. What a great time to play Netrunner!

I collected the decks for the top 4 players and posted them on Netrunner DB. Here they are:

Joe Filomena’s Leela and Blue Sun

Robby Fry’s Kit and Tennin

Aleksander Ornaf’s Noise and CI

Brian Cronin’s Andromeda and ETF

And here are all the details!

Games of Berkeley February 2015 Tournament Results

With all that rain coming down, only 14 players attended the tournament this month. They were in for a treat as we tried out achievements for the first time. Read the above link for the details on how those worked.

GoB employee and all around good guy, Jamie, won this month! He posted his decks to NetrunnerDB for all to enjoy.

Who Shot Mr. Burns

Brain Fart

Jamie won the brain damage achievement and Jared won the advancement achievement. They won copies of Love Letter and Hanabi.

Here are the overall Corp vs Runner win rates:

Well, you can’t ask for better than that!

Here are the details results. And here at the results on acoo.net.

Netrunner at GDC

Last year I organized a casual Netrunner meetup during the Game Developers Conference here in San Francisco. A bunch of people showed up so let’s do it again!

For those of you who clicked this link and don’t know what is going on, Netrunner is an asymmetrical physical card game of bluffing, risk, intrigue, and teacup giraffes.

It is a heck of a lot of fun too. So if you know how to play or want to learn, here are the details.

We will meet in the food court of the Sony Metreon on Tuesday, March 3rd starting at 6pm and going until they kick us out. That is the street level of the Metreon. Look for this guy or all the people playing card games.

If you are brand new, I recommend watching these tutorial videos before playing.

Hope to see ya there!

Announcing Achievements at the Games of Berkeley February Tournament

Last month I asked the attendees if they would be interested in having achievements during the monthly GoB tournament and there seemed to be a lot of interest so here we go!

I am always pretty cautious of achievements in general as they can really disrupt the overall fun of the game. I didn’t want achievements that would encourage regressive decks that simply try to grind out an achievement at the cost of losing the game as this would ruin the fun for the opponent.

So the way these achievements work, you only count them in games you have won. You still need to build a deck that can win games and hopefully, the tournament. These are intended to slightly encourage you to build and play a deck you maybe wouldn’t have played otherwise. And these are entirely optional. Feel free to completely ignore them. I also tried to theme them around Order & Chaos.

There will be a special prize for the player that wins each achievement. Tie breakers will be resolved based on tournament standing. I am hoping to theme the prizes around the achievements. They will likely be smaller card or board games that GoB has in stock and will be purchased with the entry fees.

This month we have:

Runner – That PAD Will Rot Your Brain! – This achievement is won by the player who has acquired the most brain damage at the end of each game they win.

Corp – Advance The Win! – This achievement is won by the player who has the most advancement tokens in play at the end of each game they win.

The tournament is happening on Sunday, February 8th. This is an experiment and I hope everyone has fun with these!

Store Championships 2015!

It is that time of the year again! Store Championships!

Below is a list of all the events going on in and around the Bay Area that I am aware of. If I am missing something, please contact me via Twitter or Email.

Note: Store Championships are designated as “competitive” tier events according to FFG so deck lists are required.

The following are listed as hosts for Store Championships but I was unable to determine their time yet.

  • Gator Games in San Mateo
  • Versus Games in SF

And for those truly brave runners (who own a car).

Games of Berkeley January 2015 Tournament Results

The Games of Berkeley tournament is always a fun time. We had 20 players this month.

Weston Odom won with his Prepaid/ProCon Kate and Hybrid ETF deck.

The win stats are always interesting to compare month to month:

wins

Also, flat lines represented 27% of the total wins on the day (:O).

Here are the detailed results.

I also posted the tournament to acoo.net where you can add deck lists if you attended this event.

See ya next month!

Games of Berkeley Noise Tournament

port-ill-noiseWe are doing something special at the September Games of Berkeley tournament.

Local player Stephen Lee went to Gen Con and returned with a coveted alt art Noise. He wanted to do something fun with it so he donated it to the tournament.

The top Noise player at this month’s tournament will receive this card!

There is no requirement to play Noise. It is otherwise a normal constructed tournament. Hope to see you there!
